Our story isn't a typical fairytale, but it is our fairytale. Mike and I met on December 2, 2017. We, like so many these days, met on one of those dating apps, our was Mutual. We swiped and matched on a Thursday or maybe it was Friday, but our first date was that Saturday right after. I think we both appreciated the willingness to meet and not "pen pal" for a few weeks or months. Our first date was dinner and a movie, and I was thrilled that is what he decided on. It is my absolute favorite date and still is our favorite date night. We decided to meet at the movie theater, because you always meet in person first on a first dating app date. I got there first, and I think texted him. The way he tells it is he was walking to the theater and looked up from his phone to see me standing against the wall and was stopped in his tracks, dare I say love at first sight? haha (gush gush, heart eyes, heart eyes, are you gushing from his version?)
From the theater we went to dinner at Cafe Rio (little did I know its his favorite and we would go all the time in our marriage)! I should mention that I was getting over cold and definitely didn't feel my best. I ordered soup! Which is just crazy to me because there are so many good things at Cafe Rio! We had a great time, conversation was easy. We went to see Thor Ragnarok, and I'm pretty sure he held my hand, or maybe put his arm around me, or something to that typical movie date behavior. We sat and talked in his car until 1am or so and had made plans to see each other again the next day. The rest, as they say, is history.
Dating through December and the holiday season was so fun and such a great way to start our relationship. Temple lights, zoo lights, gingerbread houses, and just time off of work to spend time together. I will say we were very pretty when we were dating 😂 truly our best selves!
Mike met my family on Easter of 2018, and we went to Arizona over Memorial Day for me to meet his dad and stepmom, and we had a really great time on that trip. We got to to go to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and AZ. We may have already picked out a ring design before this trip happened so we new we would be getting married. We were 36 and 33 years old, no time to waste, when you know you know :) Road tripping with this guy was the icing on an already delicious cake. We had a blast at all the random things we did. Being with him makes everything fun and exciting.

We went to this city called Oatman and they have wild donkeys that just roam the roads. Mike bought me some "feed" to fed them, and as you can see in the picture below I was basically attacked haha, and Mike just took pictures of me. 😂
We went to the Grand Canyon and went on the Skywalk, you might be able to tell in the picture below, but Mike has a death grip on that railing. The floor below us was clear and you could see all the way down and my Mr. is a little afraid of heights.
Next stop was Las Vegas where we discovered Nacho Daddy restaurant and the Taco Bell Cantina that sells our favorite Baja Blast Freeze in one of those big twisty cups that typically are full of alcohol, but were alcohol free for us!
We got some killer sunburns that trip, as you can see below!
We returned home from that trip and I think less than a week later were ENGAGED! We had gone to my friend Jerry Taylor at Taylor Custom Rings and we designed the ring of my dreams. I wanted sparkle and so we decided to have a cluster diamond. This ensured lots of sparkle. I still catch it in certain lights and tell Mike to "look at it sparkle". June 5th Mike and I had a dinner date planned for when he got done with work. He was a little later than normal picking me up, but the traffic from Salt Lake to Utah County can be pretty bad. When he knocked and I opened the door he had my ring in his hand and proposed. He later told me that having the ring in his possession and protection was nerve racking. He literally picked up the ring from the jeweler on the way over and it was on my finger less than an hour later!
It all seemed like a dream. I had been waiting 33 years to meet this man, and I can't imagine anyone more perfect for me. 💗💗
